Artistically Fashionable: Introducing Maxime Serrano

ree

Maxime (also known as Max) Serrano embodies the blend of fashion, youth, music, and theatrical arts. He is exceptionally creative and as an emerging artist, he continually finds inspiration in storytelling through his music and theatrical performances. Handsome, stylish, and youthful, Max has a commanding presence in person. Music and acting serve as powerful means for emotional expression: musicians convey feelings through melodies and lyrics, while actors bring characters to life, delving into psychological depths and human experiences. Max appreciates that both disciplines focus on self-expression and storytelling. He is passionate about how a song often narrates a story, while a film or play unveils a narrative through dialogue and performance. He is filled with creativity and ready to take on new and artistic experiences.

From an early age, Max has been creating lyrics in his mind, driven by his lifelong passion for music. He is dedicated to expressing himself through sound, particularly by playing the guitar. His unique style and appearance reflect his keen interest in fashion. His poetic nature and maturity are evident in his style selections. Since starting college, he has also cultivated a strong interest in theatre arts and film and intends to follow that path as well.

Max Serrano, the son of Rafael Serrano, a Contemporary Abstract Neo-Surrealist artist, is constantly immersed in inspiration. They have a deep and strong connection and have always enjoyed a beautiful bond. Gemma Magazine has previously featured Rafael and his artwork, emphasizing the considerable influence of his creations, which stem from a poetic vision. Rafael is a well-known Los Angeles artist and his work is stunning. From a young age, Rafael aspired to be a painter and received significant encouragement from his father, who admired his artistic talent and passion. He obtained an MFA from Otis College of Art and Design and has exhibited his work globally. Rafael now offers the same encouragement to Max and supports his goals and achievements.

Gemma Magazine had the thrilling chance to interview Max, discovering him to be inquisitive, passionate, and perceptive. He possesses a remarkable sense of style and wears his clothes with confidence. His manner of speaking is both timid and straightforward. So, let's delve in!

I know you enjoy fashion. Tell us about your love for style.

Lately, I've developed a strong interest in fashion, particularly in the concept of making my own clothes. I've always been meticulous about how clothes fit, and I often struggled to find the right size. This led me to start making my own garments. I love the thought of establishing my own brand and designing my clothing.

Do you have some favorite fashion brands that you gravitate towards?

There are alot of fashion brands I like but I don't really have a single favorite because every brand has pieces I like and others I don't. Some brands I enjoy are Maison Maraiela, Dior, Homme, early Alexander McQueen, and I'm also a fan of Guidi boots.

Do you feel that your dad (being a successful artist himself) influenced your desire for the arts?

Being raised in an environment where my dad was always painting shaped my brain to view the world through an artistic lens. Witnessing art constantly during my childhood continues to have an impact on me. The opportunity to be surrounded by art is truly wonderful, especially since my dad was an abstract painter. It allowed my young mind to explore and interpret each piece freely. Growing up with abstract art has influenced my perception of creativity. Art isn't bound by rules; it taught me that art can be chaotic, emotional, and sometimes unconventional. I value how each painting challenges you in unique ways, inspiring a sense of freedom. I'm incredibly thankful for being exposed to art from a young age. Every child should have the chance to experience art early in life.

Would you consider modeling if the opportunity arose?

Yes. I would. I like the idea of representing a brand and getting to wear their new pieces, especially if it's a brand I already like. I've always enjoyed clothing and expressing myself through what I wear, so modeling feels like a natural extension of that. I also think that it would be a great opportunity to get my face out there and try something new.

Can you tell me about your passion for music

I've always been passionate about music. I recall being young and creating lyrics in my mind,

jotting down anything that sounded appealing. I would constantly invent music in my head, yearning for the chance to express it with an instrument. For me, there's no greater feeling than freely expressing myself through sound.

Who are your biggest musical influences

Over the years, I've been influenced by a variety of musicians, including Nirvana, The Beatles, Neil Young, Elliott Smith, and Cat Stevens. I tend to go through phases where I become deeply interested in a specific sound, but then I move on after I've listened to it extensively. My influences are always evolving, yet I often gravitate towards folk rock and grunge artists. Right now, I'm most inspired by musicians who blend different genres and explore a range of sounds. The Beatles are a well-known example of this. Their willingness to experiment and incorporate diverse musical styles results in a powerful, distinctive sound.

What genres of music do you enjoy the most?

I appreciate almost every type of music. Selecting just one would be difficult for me, as numerous genres merge to create subgenres, complicating the choice. I also don't believe I could do it.

How do you approach songwriting or Composing music? Do you have a specific routine or environment that inspires you?

I'm still exploring my sound, so I don't have a strict routine yet, but I do have things that inspire me. I always feel creative when I play guitar in a new environment. Something about being in a different space opens up my mind. I don't consider myself a serious songwriter yet; I make music mostly to enjoy myself and clear my head. Recently, Ive been getting into electronic music on my computer, and I'm starting to experiment with blending that with my guitar playing. Right now, music is something I do for fun and self-expression, and I'm still figuring out my style as I go.

How do you balance music with school and other activities?

Just as you manage to balance everything, I play the guitar at school, and it often sits around in my room. It's easy to include in your daily routine. Without a guitar, I'm not productive. The thing that keeps me busy is the guitar, so I balance my life around it.

What message do you hope to convey through your music?

It depends on my mood. My preferences shift daily, so I'm always alternating between different things. I aim to create music not for publicity or fame, but so others can experience the emotions I feel when listening to music.
