Marco Pelusi is the perfect stylist to explore the hair trends, color options, and high-quality haircare for Spring 26. Gemma Magazine loves his advice and suggestions, so we decided to check in. Women often change their hairstyles in spring due to a variety of internal and external influences. The shift in weather frequently inspires lighter styles or colors that reflect the season's brightness. Spring symbolizes renewal, igniting the desire for a fresh look. Furthermore, a new hairstyle can enhance self-confidence and mood, aligning with the energetic spirit of spring. Fashion trends also drive these changes, as new styles emerge each season, encouraging women to update their hairstyles accordingly. Lastly, maintenance is essential. Spring usually favors lighter, more manageable styles that require less upkeep, especially with increased outdoor activities. There are many changes one might consider: adopting a completely new style, changing hair color, adding highlights, and more.

Gemma Magazine had the thrilling chance to speak with Marco regarding spring trends, hair color selections, and maintaining hair quality for spring 26 as we transition into the summer season.

What's popular...Let's explore!

What are the most popular hair trends you're seeing this spring for 2026?

I think wavy hair is making a comeback.  Long loose waves.  You can work your own waves naturally, or you can add waves with an iron.

Can you describe any specific styles making a comeback this season?

Yes, I think layers are still coming back, big time!  Like a throwback to a shag but also modernized.  A great, easy way to make long hair interesting is to add layers!

What do you think of the hair accessory trend?

I fully support the trend!  I have clients who will simply add a barrette, and it looks great!  A hair accessory is a simple way to dress up your hair without doing much of anything!

What color palettes do you think are strong this spring?

I do like the "Bessette Blonde" (named after Carolyn Bessette) look; I love an upscale, effortless-looking blonde.  This shade is a glossy, honeyed blonde with a distinctly 90's feel. It is a warmer shade than the cool, almost white blonde. The "Bessette Blonde" is bright but never stark. This buttery, face-framing shade is completely timeless.

I also LOVE vivid reds; I am a big believer in going red if it suits you!  It can really make you stand out.

How do you approach color blending for a natural look in spring?

Spring is a terrific time to go lighter naturally; so if you're up for it, simply ask your stylist to throw in a few natural highlights!  You can ask the stylist to put them a little further away from your scalp, so it looks 'lived in'.

Are there any particular hairstyles that will work well with spring outfits?

If you can pull it off, slicked back hair is fabulous.  I do love this look paired with an amazing spring outfit!  Along the same lines, a French twist or a loose updo is a timeless way to pull your hair back and look great in spring.

What advice do you give clients to maintain their spring styles and colors?

Take care of your hair.  Work with products that support healthy hair and scalp - and preserve your haircolor.  Explore marcopelusi.com for optimal products to nurture your hair.

What products do you recommend for keeping hair healthy during the seasonal transition?

A good shampoo is a must.  Check out Marco Color Bodifying Shampoo to keep the color from fading and to give your hair luminous, sleek volume at marco® color bodifying shampoo  – Marco Pelusi Studio

My tenure as a professional colorist has allowed me the opportunity to test hundreds of products over the years. None have been able to protect and extend the life of hair color like marco collagen color guard -- the first and only complete collagen-based system developed for colored and chemically-treated hair.

What inspires you when creating spring styles for your clients?

I try to go seasonal, let the seasons work for me, let the seasons work for my clients, so Spring is super fun for me!  And I will be teaching other hairdressers how to highlight hair and do a terrific red color at my upcoming shows - teaching others inspires me to do better!  And when I'm with a client in the chair, I try to be as detailed as possible in my work!  I love to get a 'zone' and focus!

What haircut styles are gaining popularity this spring?

The textured bob will be big this spring! Think Victoria Beckham. A textured bob is a versatile, modern haircut featuring choppy layers, shattered ends, or soft waves that add volume, movement, and a "lived-in" feel to a classic bob. It is characterized by its relaxed, non-uniform, and low-maintenance style that can be customized for different hair types, often styled with soft bends, texturizing spray, or a diffuser.

Are there any celebrities or influencers whose hairstyles are setting trends this season?

I like Rachel Zoe - she’s on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills - check out her clothes and her style, and also her blonde hair with her waves and curls! She’s a real trendsetter!

What advice do you give clients to help them choose the right trend for their face shape and hair type?

Know your face shape - know if you are oval or round for sure - and go from there. A round face, for example, looks better with a square or solid hairstyle rather than one that adds roundness. Know your color season - know if you are warm or cool for sure, and go from there. Warmer-toned people look good with yellows, oranges, and reds, for example .

How do you stay up to date with the latest hair trends and techniques?

I teach hair color at all the major hair shows in the country. It's extremely inspiring and cutting-edge.
